Profile

A Florida native, Jennifer Boyer always has enjoyed caring care for others, first as a paramedic and volunteer firefighter and then as a nurse, before pursuing her degree to become a nurse practitioner.

A first-generation college student from a medically- and clinically-underserved town, Boyer says she has a “passion for preventative medicine” which is why she chose primary care, because it allows her to reach a larger population.

She is particularly interested in women’s health, sexual health, adolescent health, and mental health.

“We have to treat the whole person, not just what we see in front of us during an office visit,” she says. “We really have to dive deep, find out what’s going on at home, what their beliefs are, their adversities and their goals. We have to be realistic for an open patient-provider relationship that respects each other’s goals.”
