The program will provide immediate access to addiction treatment resources at SNHH and across broader SolutionHealth system.
Nashua, NH — During a press conference held earlier today, Governor Chris Sununu and other state officials announced that Southern New Hampshire Health (SNHH) will become the new point of entry for the Doorway-NH program serving Greater Nashua. This statewide initiative provides a comprehensive and localized response to the opioid epidemic, ensuring immediate access to treatment for residents suffering from a substance use disorder. Southern New Hampshire Health will assume this new role in May 2020.
“SNHH has a longstanding commitment to providing high-quality mental health and addiction services,” says Mike Rose, CEO of Southern New Hampshire Health. “Our support of the Doorway-NH program is entirely consistent with our mission and other services designed to help individuals who suffer from a substance use disorder, including emergency evaluations, acute inpatient services, intensive outpatient services, medication for addiction treatment, and integrated behavioral health care.”
According to Sherry Hausmann, CEO of SolutionHealth, this new Doorway Designation is in perfect alignment with the goals and programs in development by SolutionHealth, the regional system established by SNHH and Elliot Health System. “Behavioral health is among SolutionHealth’s foremost priorities, as system leaders and providers in Manchester and Nashua are aggressively pursuing plans to improve access to behavioral health services across the region,” Hausmann says.
A “hub and spoke” model, Doorway-NH provides a single point of entry for residents seeking treatment for substance use disorder. The location of each of the nine Doorways ensures that help for substance use disorder is always available. This approach provides an integrated, one-stop-shop model offering the full array of treatment, recovery, and self-sufficiency services.
SNHH will also work closely with the Nashua’s first responders and community partners who support Safe Stations.
“The plan is for those who use a Safe Station to seek treatment to be connected to the Doorway so services can be coordinated,” says Lisa K. Madden, MSW, Associate Vice President of Behavioral Health at Southern New Hampshire Health. “Our focus at SNHH will be on providing timely evaluations for people dealing with substance use disorders, particularly opioid use disorders, in order to facilitate placement with the appropriate level of care.”
