Southern New Hampshire Medical Center Behavioral Health Services recently received a $1,500 grant from Eversource to help fund a therapeutic activity program that will include a number of areas to help patients, including art and hobbies, music, crafts, and games.

“We are dedicated to finding new ways to best care for our patients. Funding from the Eversource grant will have a significant positive impact by enabling Behavioral Health Services to purchase therapeutic activities for patients admitted to the inpatient behavioral health unit, substance use disorder intensive outpatient program, partial hospitalization program, and for patients who are waiting in the emergency department,” said Southern NH Medical Center Executive Director of Behavioral Health Services Michelle Gardner. “Words truly cannot express how very grateful we are to be given the opportunity to purchase items used for therapeutic activities to promote learning, growing, and healing.”

With this grant, Behavioral Health Services will provide different arts and crafts supplies, books, puzzles, and games to patients. The grant will also allow patients to participate in music therapy which can help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. Finally, the grant will allow for the Behavioral Health Unit to build a few raised garden beds and provide other outdoor activities for patients.
