Southern NH Health Collaborates with Local Partners to Cultivate a Healthier, More Sustainable Community

Southern New Hampshire Health, in partnership with The ReGenerative Roots Association, TD Bank, and the Arbor Day Foundation, planted dozens of fruit trees on land provided by Southern New Hampshire Health in Hudson on Derry Road.

As part of its mission to improve the health and well-being of the community, Southern NH Health is committed to initiatives that promote access to nutritious food and enhance local green spaces. The project is made possible through a grant from TD Tree Days, the bank’s flagship volunteer program dedicated to enhancing outdoor spaces through community planting events, implemented in collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation and local planting organizations.

Volunteers from The ReGenerative Roots Association and TD Bank planted dozens of trees to create a fruit tree orchard, representing one small but meaningful step toward addressing food insecurity in the region. All fruit grown will be harvested by volunteers and donated to local food pantries.

“Access to nutritious food and green spaces directly supports the well-being of our community,” said Betsy Houde, MA, Executive Director, Community Partnerships at Southern New Hampshire Health. “Through this collaboration, we’re creating spaces that nourish both people and the environment. The fruit from these trees will provide healthy options for local families, while the plantings themselves will offer shade, beauty, and sustainability for years to come.”

“Access to green spaces is essential to the health and well-being of our communities,” said Paige Carlson-Heim, Head of Social Impact at TD Bank. “Through TD Tree Days, we're proud to work with local organizations like ReGenerative Roots, and Southern New Hampshire Health to enhance outdoor spaces that connect neighbors, improve air quality, and support the community of southern New Hampshire. We're grateful to our volunteers, colleagues, Arbor Day Foundation, and local planting organizations like ReGenerative Roots, whose commitment to our 14th annual planting events helps revitalize these green spaces for our communities from Maine to Florida.”

Since launching in 2011, TD Tree Days has brought together more than 9,000 TD volunteers and local organizations to plant over 22,000 native trees and shrubs across the U.S., strengthening the bank’s commitment to a more sustainable and connected future. Approximately 1,900 more trees and shrubs will be planted this year in partnership with the ReGenerative Roots Association and 19 additional organizations that were also awarded a TD Tree Days grant.

Southern New Hampshire Health is a nonprofit healthcare system that employs more than 2,700 individuals and includes Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, a 188-bed hospital in Nashua, as well as Foundation Medical Partners, a multi-specialty provider group with more than 320 clinicians.
