Southern New Hampshire Health is teaming up with Girls on the Run at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School in Nashua as part of a nationwide campaign to promote physical-activity-based positive youth development for girls in grades three through eight.

In a statement, Robert Dorf, DO, chief medical officer at SNHH said, “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to support girls in developing their confidence and finding fun in a recreational activity that supports emotional and physical health.”

Through SNHH’s sponsorship, the participating girls will have their entire cost covered and will receive new sneakers to ensure safe and fun training.

Dorf continued, “Southern New Hampshire Health is committed to supporting programs like these that address an urgent need in the community for fitness and recreation that promotes good health among kids and adults alike.”
Girls on the Run New Hampshire will impact the lives of more than 1,600 girls across the state this spring. The program will prepare the girls physically and emotionally to complete a celebratory, non-competitive 5k running event on June 2 in Concord. Also, they will be joined by program participants from nearly 100 schools from across the state.

In a statement, Jen Hubbell, executive director of Girls on the Run NH said, “Southern New Hampshire Health’s support allows each Mt. Pleasant Girls on the Run participant to learn how she can positively connect with and change the world,” adding that, “Ultimately, we want all girls to recognize that they are the leaders of their lives. We are incredibly grateful for this new sponsorship!”
