Staff in the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, “Cardiac Cath Lab”, make an immediate and often life-changing, impact on their patients. The Cardiac Cath Lab, located in Nashua, NH, is a specialized department for cardiac tests and procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. Patients sometimes arrive with planned appointments, but many also arrive in distress needing care immediately. This is where the Cardiac Cath Lab team steps in to help.

“We truly work as a team—it’s about supporting each other as staff, and ensuring our patients get the best care. We care for a variety of cardiac patients, including many who are in crisis, such as experiencing a heart attack. We see first-hand how the work we do is so crucial and impactful on the lives of people in our community,” said Shannon Soucy, RT(R), RCIS, RN, Clinical Manager, who has served in the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center Cardiac Cath Lab since 2011.

Erin Eaton, RN, agrees. “In the heat of the moment, we all pull together as a team to help each other and the patient. The outcomes our patients experience are positive because of our approach to our work together.” The team approach means that the staff are like family, working together every day toward the same goal. “We pitch in and help when someone on the team needs a backup or support,” said Erin.

Growing clinical knowledge, gaining well-rounded experience, and contributing to larger goals of Southern NH Medical Center are all part of the team’s work and development. “We continue to learn more in depth knowledge about anatomy and procedures, and we continue to level up our critical thinking,” Nick Kastanek, RN, said. “Our team has different roles to ensure it runs smoothly, and there are opportunities to take on new work. Beyond our team, there are many ways to get involved in the hospital—you can join a committee, step up to take on a new project, and more—all you need to do is ask.”

Collaboration is an important part of the team’s work as well. “Our working relationships with nurses and physicians at Southern NH Medical Center are strong. They are welcoming, they value our input and they involve us in cases more closely than in other areas of care,” said Erin.

The Cardiac Cath Lab team is looking for Cardiac Cath technologists and RNs to join their close-knit, knowledgeable team. They are looking for staff to support healthcare needs of the community now, and into the future. To view open positions and to apply, visit www.snhcareers.org.
