The Doorway of Greater Nashua and Gathouse Recovery Solutions Continue Support for Individuals with Substance Use Disorder in Nashua 24x7

The Doorway of Greater Nashua, part of Southern New Hampshire Health, and GateHouse Recovery Solutions continue their partnership to support and care for people suffering from substance use disorder 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Doorway of Greater Nashua partnered with GateHouse Recovery Solutions in 2020 to ensure our community members have access to the care they need, when they need it, regardless of the time of day or day of the week.

Anyone suffering from substance use disorder can visit The Doorway of Greater Nashua, located at 268 Main Street in Nashua, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm to seek assistance. Through the partnership with GateHouse Recovery Solutions, access is expanded to 24 hours a day. Individuals who are seeking treatment can access the GateHouse after hours and on holidays at their 63 Temple Street location where trained staff provide supervised, safe, and secure shelter accommodations until The Doorway of Greater Nashua opens at 8 am the following business day.

“We are committed to providing the support our community needs, when they need it the most. It is vital that individuals know that we are available to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” says Kristin Makara, LICSW, MLADC, Director of The Doorway of Greater Nashua. “We are able to support those who are seeking treatment, right in that moment, decreasing the chance we may lose that opportunity all together. We staff The Doorway with individuals who have lived-experience of substance misuse—they serve as our peer recovery support team—and clinicians who are specifically trained to assist individuals with substance misuse disorders.”

Since May of 2020, Southern New Hampshire Health has been a point of entry into The Doorway program, the statewide initiative that provides comprehensive addiction services to residents suffering from a substance use disorder. Designated The Doorway of Greater Nashua, the program provides screening and evaluation; treatment, including referrals for medication-assisted treatment; prevention, including naloxone; crisis stabilization, peer recovery support, and resources for long-term recovery, such as housing, evidence-based programs, and workforce opportunities. It also helps facilitate access to treatment and offers ongoing monitoring as needed. The Doorway of Greater Nashua prides itself on creating and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with community partners to ensure that individuals are connected to, and remain engaged in, the best care possible beyond the initial referrals.
