The Surgery Center of Greater Nashua Becomes First of its Kind in the United States to Receive Prestigious Accreditation

The Surgery Center of Greater Nashua, part of Southern New Hampshire Health, has just become the first same-day surgical care facility in the U.S., to attain a new type of accreditation by the widely respected and utilized Det Norske Veritas group (DNV).

An ambulatory surgical center is a separate facility that specializes in surgeries and diagnostic procedures for patients who don’t require a hospital stay. This designation by DNV means an outpatient surgical facility meets rigorous, evidence-based standards for patient safety, quality of care, and continuous performance improvement.

“Southern New Hampshire Health is honored to get this DNV accreditation, which recognizes our strong dedication to quality and patient care,” said Leanne Berube, Executive Director of Surgical Services at Southern New Hampshire Health. “The fact that we are the first in the U.S. to achieve this, is a testament to how a community non-profit health system can bring patient care to the highest levels in the country. We will always focus on providing the very best for the communities of greater Nashua and northern Massachusetts.”

The news comes as The Surgery Center of Greater Nashua, located at 10 Prospect Street, is increasing access to patient care by offering more appointments for outpatient procedures completed by Southern New Hampshire Health-affiliated surgeons. And because patients are referred by their Southern NH Health providers, it creates a convenient process to schedule appointments, seamlessly access medical records, and coordinate follow-up care. Treatments are available across a broad range of specialties including gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery, podiatry, sports medicine, and endoscopy.

Southern New Hampshire Health has also upgraded its laparoscopic surgical equipment. This means The Surgery Center of Greater Nashua will utilize some of the newest state-of-the-art options on the market for minimally invasive surgery, leading to better overall patient outcomes.
