Southern New Hampshire Health Welcomes Five New Providers

New Providers Join Foundation Surgery, Women’s Care of Nashua, Infectious Disease Associates and Travel Medicine, Nashua Center for Internal Medicine, and the Anticoagulation Clinic

Tolga Ozmen, MD, joins the staff at Foundation Surgery.

A graduate of Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey, Dr. Ozmen completed his initial general surgery training at Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul and his fellowship in breast surgical oncology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. He completed his second general surgery residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Ozmen has conducted and extensively published many award-winning breast cancer studies in well-regarded medical journals. He also has been an associate editor for several breast cancer textbooks and lectures nationally and internationally on breast cancer.

He is on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, Department of Surgery, Division of Gastrointestinal and Oncologic Surgery, and is a faculty at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Ozmen will be seeing and treating breast cancer patients at Foundation Surgery.

“I believe an ideal provider/patient relationship should be built on mutual trust and respect,” he says. “Cancer is not an easy diagnosis to get. As a provider, my responsibility is to listen and clarify the picture for the patient and make sure my patient is involved in the decision-making process. More importantly, my patient should feel that we are a team and will walk through this together.”

Timothy Miller, a board-certified Physician Assistant, joins Foundation Surgery.

A graduate of Arizona State University with a B.S. in kinesiology, Miller earned his Master of Science in applied nutrition at Northeastern University and his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University in Manchester.

Miller is interested particularly in general and acute care surgery. He has extensive experience with inpatient and outpatient management, as well as extensive first assist experience in the operating room in neurosurgery and ENT.

“I find it very rewarding to work hands-on in the acute setting,” he says. “Whether you’re evaluating someone for an acute medical issue, a trauma in the ER or assisting with an elective outpatient surgery, you’re dealing with patients when they may be feeling stressed, vulnerable or scared. As a surgical PA, I have an opportunity to help guide them through that process.”

Marina Smallwood, a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner, joins Women’s Care of Nashua.

Smallwood, who has been practicing as a nurse practitioner for 15 years, received her Master in Science in Nursing from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions and her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.

“I’ve always been passionate about providing good quality healthcare to women across the age spectrum in gynecological care and prenatal care,” Smallwood says. “I think that by being a woman, I understand what my patient is going through, and I think healthcare can be a very intimidating place, so it’s important that I make it a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for my patients.”

Victoria Martone, a board-certified nurse practitioner with more than 12 years of experience, joins the staff of Infectious Disease and Travel Medicine in Merrimack.

A graduate of Saint Anselm College in Manchester with a B.S. in nursing, Martone received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

Martone says while working as a nurse and nurse practitioner in various settings she recognized she had a particular interest in infectious diseases.

“Infectious diseases have always fascinated me,” she says. “All of the different bacteria, viruses and parasites that live in the world around us that are constantly changing and then how medicine is constantly changing to deal with them.”

Rachel Davis, a board-certified nurse practitioner, joins the staff at both the Nashua Center for Internal Medicine and the Anticoagulation Clinic.

Davis earned her Master of Nursing at Rivier University and her associate degree in nursing at Nashua Community College.

Her nursing experience has ranged from family practice to immediate and urgent care. She is specializing in adult medicine.

“I enjoy caring for my patients and helping them achieve their best level of health possible,” Davis says. “I appreciate that every person has their own definition of health, which I respect, and consider, when we work together to achieve a shared goal.”
