Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program that helps you recover and strengthen your heart after a heart condition or procedure.

You may benefit from cardiac rehab if you’ve had:

  • A heart attack
  • Coronary artery disease, stable angina, or heart failure
  • Peripheral artery disease
  • Heart surgery or procedures such as CABG, angioplasty/stenting, valve repair or replacement, a pacemaker or ICD, or a heart transplant

About Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Our cardiac rehabilitation program features individually prescribed exercise, education and risk-factor modification. We are accredited through the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Cardiac Rehab Has Three Phases:

  • Phase I – Inpatient Recovery
Physical therapists and their care team will help you recuperate while you are in the hospital. It includes daily exercises and education to prepare you to return home.
  • Phase II – Outpatient Recovery
This team consists of a medical director, registered nurses, exercise physiologists and a registered dietitian. In a small group setting, you will participate in an 18-week program of supervised outpatient exercise and education to strengthen your heart, and improve your independence and healthy lifestyle. The patient is seen twice weekly during this phase.

Our cardiac rehabilitation program is a referral-based program from a cardiologist or primary care doctor. Cardiac rehab is strongly recommended after heart surgery, myocardial infarction, or coronary intervention. We encourage all patients to check with their insurance company regarding individual co-pays.

Our Program is Nationally Recognized

The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) has nationally recognized and certified our Cardiac Rehabilitation program. This certification, one of only 1,300 nationwide, confirms that we meet the stringent national criteria of the AACVPR in the areas of education, safety, equipment and facilities, staff clinical excellence, patient satisfaction, and outcome measures.
