Implantable Cardiac Device Clinic

Implantable Cardiac Device Clinic

Comprehensive Care for Your Heart Health

Foundation Cardiology Device Clinic specializes in the management and monitoring of implanted cardiac devices, such as pacemakers, defibrillators, and implantable loop recorders. The Device Clinic ensures devices function correctly, providing regular check-ups, remote monitoring, and adjustment of settings as needed to optimize patient heart health and overall well-being.

Our specialty team of providers, technicians, and clinicians works with your cardiologist to monitor and manage your cardiac device. We offer:

A pacemaker is implanted to prevent the heart from beating too slowly. There are multiple types of pacemakers (single, dual, biventricular, and leadless).

We provide regular monitoring and programming of cardiac pacemakers to ensure optimal device function and patient safety. This includes checking battery life, lead integrity, and adjusting settings based on patient needs and activity levels to maintain proper heart rhythm.

An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) is a device implanted to detect and stop potentially life-threatening irregular heart rhythms. ICDs continually monitor the heart rhythm and, if necessary, provide rapid pacing to restore regular rhythm or deliver a shock if that does not work.

We provide comprehensive care for patients with ICDs including device interrogation, programming adjustments, and battery replacement coordination. Regular monitoring helps prevent sudden cardiac death and ensures device readiness.

An implantable loop monitor (ILR) is a small device implanted under the skin of the chest that records the heart's electrical activity for 3 to 5 years. Indications for these devices include irregular heartbeat, unexplained stroke, unexplained fainting, and arrhythmia management. We implant ILRs and monitor them on a monthly basis via remote transmitters.

Expert evaluation and resolution of cardiac device issues including lead problems, inappropriate shocks, battery depletion alerts, and device malfunction. Immediate assessment and intervention help maintain device effectiveness and patient safety.

The ICD Support Group is a forum for patients to provide emotional validation, connection, and education about living with an ICD. Our goal is to create a safe space for people to connect with implantable cardiac device experts, as well as peers with similar experiences within the ICD community.
