Treating the whole body.

Our board certified neuromusculoskeletal medicine specialist is an expert in identifying the cause of and resolving pain and discomfort. With an emphasis on Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, we work with you to restore your body to its neutral position, decrease your pain, and improve your quality of life.

Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (NMM) is a specialty of medicine that uses Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) as a non-invasive approach to healing that works by restoring normal structure and function to areas impaired by trauma, disease, systemic disorders etc. Osteopathic treatment can be applied to musculoskeletal conditions, neurologic conditions, respiratory conditions, post traumatic injuries, women’s health, children’s health and systemic illness. Osteopathic physicians understand how the body’s systems are interconnected and how each one affects the others. With OMM we aim to restore a physiologic neutral position to the treated region, creating system balance and optimization, with the goal of promoting health and usually resulting in reducing pain. It takes years of training in clinical diagnostic and palpatory examination in this specialty in order to correctly identify the underlying cause and insure the patient gets to the right specialists within the scope of their problem, if it cannot be resolved directly though OMT.

Osteopathic Manipulative treatments encompass many different techniques; about half a dozen that we standardly learn. The techniques are gentle and just involve pressure or positioning. These treatments, when expertly applied, pursue long term resolution. Although, for those conditions that have no medical cure, we attempt to get patients to the maximum time between treatments they can tolerate comfortably, with optimal relief.
