Profile

William Charmak, PhD, ABPP, is a board-certified clinical and medical psychologist at Foundation Counselling and Wellness.

Dr. Charmak holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and completed a residency at Malcolm Grow U.S. Air Force Medical Center, Andrews Air Force Base, Washington D.C. He later earned a Post-Doctoral Master of Science Degree in clinical psychopharmacology and completed a preceptorship in psychiatry at the Kimbrough ARMY Ambulatory Care Clinic/Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Ft. George G. Meade, MD and Bethesda, MD.

Dr. Charmak enjoyed a long career with the U.S. Department of Defense with roles including chief of medical psychology, where he provided service to a culturally diverse population of Department of Defense civilians, military personnel, and their families in the U.S. and abroad. In 2013, he won the Meritorious Service Award, one of the highest awards bestowed on federal civilian personnel for outstanding contributions to personnel and the mission. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology and a National Register of Health Service Providers member.

Dr. Charmak is widely published in highly regarded professional journals and regularly contributes to ongoing research in clinical and social psychology. He is a participating member in the Social Psychology Laboratory at the George Washington University Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences.
